"Shoes for Sandites" Update:
updated 9-11-08
Sand Springs Community Service, Inc. is partnering with Nathan Woodmansee (Associate Pastor) and Mission Christrian Church in sponsoring "Shoes for Sandites": Project scope: Any child in Sand Springs that "needs" shoes will have shoes provided. This program is to collect new shoes and/or donations of shoes and money. Mission Christian Church is already taking donations of shoes and money towards this project. Kieth Hilligoss at Air Solutions (here in Sand Springs) has said he would support this effort as well. Payless Shoes in Sand Springs has offered an additional discount at the register for shoes purchased for this project. Wal-Mart has also committed to helping with shoes. Sand Springs Rotary Club has contributed $1000 dollars to the effort. Other business, civic club, or church donations are welcome and would be a great support to the children of Sand Springs.
Update: 12/02/08-By the end of October Shoes for Sandites provided 150 pairs of shoes to children in need. The project was a wonderful success and a collaborative effort by many entities in the communtiy. Sand Springs Community Services would like to extend a heart felt thanks to all of those who made the project a success.

This year our goals were met by being able to serve the children that needed help with school supplies, and clothing for school. SSCS was able to serve more than 550 children with "Operation Backpack". Involved were more than 25 businesses, organizations, and churches who participated in this effort. In kind donations tallied at $3,500.00 dollars from the community of Sand Springs. Over 50 volunteers came foward to put in 444 hours toward this program in a 3 day time period. We would like to express sincere appreciation to all of those who participated in making "Operation Backpack" a huge success.
